Faith acts like a thing is so,
even if it's not so, that it might be so!
David G. Evans
A Visionary Leader with a Global Impact
Bishop David G. Evans—widely recognized as the “Relationship Doctor”—is a visionary leader, dynamic communicator, and compassionate counselor whose ministry has touched millions around the world. He currently serves as Senior Pastor of Bethany Baptist Church in Lindenwold, New Jersey, one of the largest churches on the East Coast, with a membership exceeding 27,000. He is also the Presiding Prelate of the Abundant Harvest Fellowship of Churches, a network providing spiritual covering for more than 175 churches across the United States, Africa, and India.
Born and raised in West Philadelphia and Chester Pennsylvania’s Fairground Projects, Bishop Evans overcame adversity and generational hardship through faith, education, and perseverance. Inspired by his grandfather, he earned dual degrees in economics and education from Lincoln University in 1973, where he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Before entering full-time ministry, he built a successful career in business as Vice President at 3 of the top ten banks in the world in the 80’s and 90’s. He owned a restaurant franchise, and was a silent partner in the gospel music industry, helping launch the career of Grammy Award-winner Hezekiah Walker and Wilmington Chester Mass Choir among others.
He accepted Christ in 1976, was licensed in 1979, and ordained in 1989. In 1990, he became pastor of Bethany Baptist Church, then a congregation of just 29 members. Under his leadership, the church has experienced exponential growth, becoming a model of holistic ministry—blending evangelism, healing and deliverance, and community development. Bishop Evans also founded Generations, Inc., a nonprofit community development corporation that provides economic empowerment and social services to Southern New Jersey, including transitional housing, senior residences, and foster care initiatives.
His commitment to social change and public service has included roles such as Commissioner of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, HUD YouthBuild Partner, Fannie Mae Advisory Board Member, Chairman of the National Homeownership Initiative, and Foundation Chair of the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey.
Bishop Evans is a prolific author whose bestsellers Healed Without Scars and Dare to Be a Man have collectively sold over 400,000 copies. His teachings, rooted in transparency and transformation, continue through his books, newly released Elevate: From Perdition to Providence, and his multimedia platforms. He is the CEO of David G. Evans Ministries, which produces “OnPointe,” a live weekly call-in podcast.
Affectionately called the “Relationship Doctor,” he has counseled more than 40,000 individuals over two decades on career, corporate, family, and relational matters. His influence extends across pulpits, boardrooms, airwaves, and communities—delivering a consistent message of hope, healing, and holistic transformation.
Bishop Evans shares his life and ministry with his wife, First Lady Lisa Evans, and is the proud father of Rayna and Chandler Evans.
